About Hannah

About Hannah

Hannah Yates

Educational and Developmental Psychologist

Hannah is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who is passionate about helping children, teens, and their families feel supported, understood, and empowered.

She completed her studies at Monash University and the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Master of Educational Psychology in 2021. Hannah has worked in a variety of settings including schools, behaviour support, community organisations, private practice, and disability services, supporting young people, families and teachers with a wide range of needs.

Hannah has a special interest in working with neurodivergent children and adolescents, including those who may hide or mask their challenges or who have complex mental health difficulties.

Hannah is experienced in providing thoughtful, in-depth assessments that highlight each person’s unique strengths and areas of need. Her goal is to make the assessment process feel calm, respectful, and clear — helping families better understand their child and feel confident about the next steps.

Hannah also provides ongoing support to children, young people and families to promote wellbeing, inclusion and growth.

In her free time, Hannah loves to cycle, swim and run. She is a local to the northern suburbs, and you will often find her at the Preston Market or the local dog park on the weekend.

Comprehenisive Developmental Assessments

Hannah offers comprehensive assessments for children and young people aged 3 to 18 years.

Each assessment looks at how a child learns, develops, and experiences the world. The process includes time with the child, as well as talking with parents or carers, and sometimes their school or early learning centre.

You can click below to learn more about the different types of assessments available.

Please note: Every child is different. A personalised plan and quote will be provided after you get in touch. The information below is a general guide only.

We understand that an assessment is a big investment of both time and money. Hannah aims to make the assessment process as smooth as possible, and offers a free screening call to all prospective clients before committing to an assessment.

Autism Assessments

Where a child or adolescent presents with social differences, sensory challenges, inflexible patterns of behaviour or communication difficulties, an assessment for autism may be recommended. The process typically includes a parent interview, questionnaires, observation, the ADOS-2, the Vineland-3, and often a cognitive assessment to explore learning or thinking differences.

ADHD Assessments

For children who present with attentional or learning challenges, difficulty with planning and organisation, or who are reported to be very active or restless, an assessment for ADHD may be recommended. The process usually includes a parent interview, questionnaires, observation, and a cognitive assessment to better understand attention, behaviour, and learning.

Cognitive and Adaptive Behaviour Assessments

For individuals who demonstrate challenges with learning, a cognitive assessment is a great starting point to understanding their unique profile of strengths and difficulties. In combination with an assessment of adaptive behaviour, a cognitive assessment can also aide in determining whether a child or young person presents with an intellectual disability (intellectual developmental disorder) or global developmental delay.

Learning Assessments

Learning assessments are conducted for individuals who have ongoing difficulties with reading, writing, maths or spelling. A comprehensive learning assessment will involve an assessment of cognitive and academic skills. This type of assessment is recommended for queries around dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Assessment

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a condition that can affect many areas of a child’s health, learning, and development. The assessment includes a consultation with parents or carers, along with tailored assessments to understand the child’s strengths and any areas where they may need extra support.
